Penngrove Traffic Study
What’s Happening?
The County completed a traffic study for the Penngrove area to better understand long-standing concerns from residents. The study focused on traffic conditions related to:
- Regional cut-through traffic on Petaluma Hill Road, Main Street, Adobe Road, and Old Redwood Highway
- Issues with travel speeds and safety
- Delays to emergency services
- Traffic challenges around Penngrove Elementary School during drop-off and pick-up times
How We Got Here
Residents have raised concerns for years about congestion, safety, and the impacts of regional growth on Penngrove’s roadways. In response, Sonoma County’s Department of Public Infrastructure launched the Penngrove Traffic Study to identify solutions.
Why It Matters
This study is about making local roads safer, less congested, and more reliable. Improvements aim to:
- Reduce cut-through traffic that clogs neighborhood streets
- Improve safety for drivers, pedestrians, and school children
- Support faster response times for emergency vehicles
- Plan for future regional growth while protecting Penngrove’s small-town character
What’s Next
The County will use the study results to evaluate potential traffic improvements that can ease congestion, improve safety, and respond to community concerns. Updates will be shared as options are developed and considered.
