June 2, 2026, Statewide Direct Primary Election
On January 5, Governor Gavin Newsom issued a proclamation ordering that a Statewide Direct Primary Election be held on June 2, 2026. Some key dates:
| 12/19/25 - 2/4/26 | Signatures in lieu of filing fees period |
| 1/26/26 - 2/4/26 | Declarations of intention filing period (candidates for superior court judge only) |
| 2/9/26 - 3/6/26 | Candidate nominations filing period |
| 5/4/26 | Voting by mail opens; first day voters can pick up Vote-by-Mail ballots at our office |

Deadline for voters to cure ballot signature issues is December 1 at 5 p.m.
Signature “cure” forms that were sent to voters whose ballot envelope signatures were either missing or mismatched for the November 4 Statewide Special Election must be completed and received at the Sonoma County Registrar of Voters Office no later than Monday, December 1, at 5 p.m., according to Evelyn Mendez, Sonoma County Registrar of Voters.
