Nomination period opens July 14 for Nov. 4 Uniform District Election

Candidate nominations open Monday, July 14, for various special district offices up for election in November, Sonoma County Registrar of Voters Deva Marie Proto announced today. Below is a list of open seats (for a more detailed list, go to Nov. 4, 2025, Uniform District Election, Campaign Guide: Offices Up for Election):

Community Services Districts

  • Occidental Community Services District
  • Two 4-year seats

Public Utility Districts

  • Bodega Bay Public Utility District
  • One 4-year seat for Office #1
  • One 4-year seat for Office #2

Recreation and Park Districts

  • Monte Rio Recreation and Park District
  • Two 4-year seats
  • One 2-year seat
  • Russian River Recreation and Park District
  • Two 4-year seats
  • One 2-year seat

Water Districts

  • Russian River County Water District
  • Two 4-year seats
  • Sonoma Mountain County Water District
  • Two 4-year seats
  • Timber Cove County Water District
  • Three 4-year seats

Registered voters in Sonoma County who are interested in running for any of these seats must obtain and file nomination papers between July 14 and Aug. 8 at the Sonoma County Registrar of Voters Office. If nomination papers for an incumbent elective officer are not filed by close of business on Aug. 8, candidates other than the incumbent shall have until close of business on Aug. 13 to file for that office.

The Sonoma County Registrar of Voters Office is located at 435 Fiscal Drive in Santa Rosa and is normally open on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and on Wednesdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. However, from now until the end of the nomination period (Aug. 13), the Office will stay open until 5 p.m. on Wednesdays as well.
