Road Commissioner Declarations

Road Commissioner Declarations are official approvals that give Sonoma County the authority to quickly address urgent road needs—such as emergencies, safety hazards, or repairs that cannot wait for the standard bidding process. These actions are taken under Public Contract Code 22031 and 20395 and applicable laws to protect public safety and keep roads open and functional. For example, a declaration may authorize immediate work to repair storm-damaged roads, clear landslides, or make emergency bridge repairs after severe weather.
