Public Notice: Solid Waste Management Program Local Enforcement Agency (LEA)

Sonoma County Environmental Health, Solid Waste Management Program, acting as the Local Enforcement Agency (LEA) is certified by the Department of Resources Recycling and Recovery (CalRecycle) to enforce state laws and regulations at solid waste sites within its jurisdiction. The Recology Sonoma Marin site operates under a Solid Waste Facility Permit issued by the LEA. The operator has filed an application for a Report of Facility Information (RFI) amendment with the LEA. The RFI describes the design and operation of the facility.
As required by 27 CCR, Section 21660.1, the LEA is distributing this notice for the purpose of noticing its acceptance of the amendment to the RFI for Recology Sonoma Marin transfer station at 2543 Petaluma Blvd South, Petaluma.
Description of Proposed Change
The RFI amendment addresses the following change:
- Adding language to allow a removal frequency of 72-hours when federal holidays fall on a Monday or Friday, or at an alternative frequency approved by the LEA.
- Update language in metals acceptance section to specifically include white
- Updates to management names and contact
LEA’s Determination
An application for a RFI amendment was received by the LEA on June 11, 2025. Pursuant to 27 CCR, Section 21665(c), the LEA reviewed the application and determined that the proposed changes are consistent with all adopted CEQA documents, are consistent with State Minimum Standards and do not conflict with the terms and conditions of the current SWFP. The LEA approved the RFI amendment on July 9, 2025.
