CalFresh

Assistance for Individuals and Families to buy healthy food

CalFresh also known federally as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) provides monthly assistance for low- or no-income individuals and families to buy food.

CalFresh is issued monthly on an Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) card, similar to an ATM card, to purchase food at online retailers, grocery stores, convenience stores, farmers markets and any store that accepts EBT.

Who may be eligible?
  • All U.S. citizens who are residents of Sonoma County who meet the guidelines.
  • Children born in the United States, regardless of where their parents were born. 
  • Immigrants who are legal permanent residents, victims of trafficking, U-Visa applicants and holders, and others.
  • Residents who receive SSI or SSP.
  • Students who meet eligibility requirements.
  • Most households must have a total gross monthly income less than or equal to 200% of the federal poverty limit.
