Charles M. Schulz — Sonoma County Airport welcomes new Southwest Airlines service

SANTA ROSA, CA | September 10, 2025

Charles M. Schulz – Sonoma County Airport today announced that Southwest Airlines will begin service in April.

The widely requested airline will begin service with new non-stop routes to San Diego, Burbank, Las Vegas and Denver. The move expands the airport’s offerings to include a popular connection for eastbound flights on North America’s fourth largest airline.

“We welcome Southwest Airlines to the North Bay family and are excited about this diversity of new destinations,” said Supervisor James Gore.

Tickets on Southwest flights will be available for purchase starting Sept. 11. Service will begin April 7, 2026. The announcement of the new airline comes after Avelo Airlines ceased operations at the Sonoma County Airport in August.

“I can’t tell you how pleased I am to welcome the newest member of our airline family,” said Airport Manager Jon Stout. “Southwest has long been a heavily requested carrier, and I’m proud to deliver for the people of Sonoma County. I look forward to a long-lasting partnership.”

The San Diego and Las Vegas routes are set to operate daily, including two San Diego roundtrips on peak days, with Denver and Burbank operating on high-demand days.

“We aren’t slowing down in our pursuit to provide customers with more options than ever before,” said Andrew Watterson, Chief Operating Officer at Southwest Airlines. “Adding Charles M. Schulz – Sonoma County Airport to our route map provides more access to California’s famed Wine Country for our customers and further solidifies our yearslong commitment to California.”
