Resolution passed by the Commission on Human Rights on February 28, 2023.
WHEREAS, Elizabeth Escalante has been a Commissioner on Human Rights, (CHR), since December 2020, and served as Vice Chair since July 2021; and
WHEREAS, Elizabeth has been an absolutely essential member of CHR, bringing her wonderful talents of working with every segment of our Sonoma County communities, especially by being a beacon of leadership to the Asian and Pacific Islanders of the North Bay, but also the LGBTQ+ Community as an ally, working for Immigrant Rights and the Rights of People with Disabilities; and
WHEREAS, Elizabeth has demonstrated vigilance, honesty, respect, diligence and fortitude with every aspect of her CHR duties, actions and beyond; and WHEREAS, Elizabeth is a shining example of the diversity, compassion and strength of a Sonoma County Commissioner on Human Rights; and
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, the Sonoma County Commission on Human Rights hereby honors Vice Chair Escalante on her spotless service to the County and declares Vice Chair Escalante a Champion of Human Rights.
