Karen Langdon
Karen Luttrell-Langdon is a proud native Northern Californian. Born in San Francisco, she grew up in the East Bay and has lived in Petaluma since 1989.
Prior to moving to Sonoma County, Karen lived 12 years in Humboldt County. She holds a Journalism & Public Relations degree from Humboldt State University and worked as an award-winning reporter on the Times-Standard daily newspaper.
Karen was drawn to live in Petaluma, and to Sonoma County at large, for the area’s neighborly feel, picturesque surroundings, career opportunities, and close proximity to The City. Since moving here, her journalism career transitioned into corporate communications, with a niche in health care. Her work history as a writer, editor, and project manager includes leadership roles at Health Plan of the Redwoods, The Doctors’ Company, and 15.5 years with Kaiser Permanente Marin-Sonoma (from where she retired in 2018 as Communications Manager).
Karen is mom to a beautiful daughter and enjoys music, baseball (Go A's!), camping, wine, travel, and films. She has a passion for people and believes in the “pebble in a pond theory” (if everyone throws a pebble of effort into changing things for the better, the ripple effect will be huge). Moving into retirement, Karen plans to apply her knack for communication, creativity, and collaboration to assist those in need and create her own small-yet-meaningful ripples for equality and social justice.
