Board of Supervisors set to discuss declaring racism as a public health crisis
Preparing to join hundreds of cities and counties across the United States, the Sonoma County Board of Supervisors at its March 12 meeting will consider adopting a resolution declaring racism as a public health crisis. Naming racism as a health crisis and committing to eliminate it within Sonoma County is considered another important step on the path to equity. Read full story
Proposed Fee Changes 2024-2025
The Sonoma County Board of Supervisors are conducting consolidated fee hearings on March 26, 2024, at 8:30 a.m. in the Board of Supervisors Chambers located at 575 Administration Drive in Santa Rosa. The Department of Agriculture/Weights & Measures is proposing fee increases for the Agriculture, Land Stewardship, and Weights & Measures divisions. Read full story

Public Notice of 1% Manual Tally for March 5, 2024, Presidential Primary Election
The Sonoma County Registrar of Voters Office will begin the steps needed to conduct a 1% manual tally as a check of the ballot counting equipment on Tuesday, March 12, 2024, at 9:00 a.m. at the Registrar of Voters Office, 435 Fiscal Dr., Santa Rosa. Read full story
Spill of partially treated wastewater at Russian River County Sanitation District Treatment Plant
Beginning late in the evening of Friday, March 1 into the early morning of Saturday, March 2, the Russian River County Sanitation District Treatment Plant experienced a spill of secondary treated wastewater. The cause of the spill is believed to be related to the weekend storm event. Read full story

Sonoma County Juvenile Hall opens new music studio
Sonoma County’s Juvenile Hall has opened a new music recording studio with the goal of promoting self-expression, positivity and wellness among youth detained at the facility with the assistance of local music professionals. Read full story
Sonoma County health officials issue cold weather warning
The County of Sonoma today issued a cold weather warning in response to the National Weather Service frost advisory from midnight to 10 a.m. Sunday. The National Weather Service is also predicting sub-freezing wind chill temperatures from Sunday into early Monday. Officials recommend that residents limit time outdoors, as serious medical conditions including hypothermia and frostbite can develop with prolonged cold weather exposure. Read full story

Public Forum on Homelessness (#4) - Addressing Homelessness 101
You are invited to participate in an online public forum on homelessness on Wednesday, March 20th from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. The forum will begin with a brief overview on homelessness and the types of housing and shelter options that are available, followed by an “open forum” style Q&A session.
