Scope:

Widen shoulders (5–7 ft) for bike lanes/emergency lanes from Hwy 116 to River Road (~1.3 miles).

Add left-turn lanes at Giusti and Davis Road intersections.

Build an 8-ft wide multi-use trail (0.6 miles) on east side, extending West County Trail.

Goals:

Improve pedestrian/bicycle safety with separated paths.

Provide emergency lanes for breakdowns and emergency vehicles.

Enhance traffic flow and connect Forestville to regional trails.

Construction Elements:

Utility relocations, tree protection/removal, grading, drainage, asphalt paving, striping, signage, retaining walls.

Traffic Calming Measures:

High-visibility crosswalks, bulb-outs, speed feedback signs, curb extensions, gateway treatments.

Schedule:

Environmental document completed (Nov 2025).

Right-of-way acquisition and design by Spring 2027.

Phase 1: Hwy 116–Davis Rd (Late Spring–Winter 2027).

Phase 2: Davis Rd–River Rd (Late Spring–Winter 2029).

Summary of Front Street Active Transportation Project Presentation

Context:

Minor arterial transitioning into town; limited visual cues.

Traffic: ~10,800–11,700 AADT; speed limit 25 mph; truck trips during peak hours.

Collision history (2014–2025): 19 collisions, 1 fatality (bicyclist), 3 severe injuries.

Proposed Improvements:

Safety: RRFBs, ADA ramps, bulb-outs, decorative lighting.

Mobility: 10-ft multi-use path, sidewalk upgrades, 11-ft travel lanes, 5-ft bike lanes (Class II), dedicated bus pullout.

Street parking adjustments, advanced warning signs.

Community Feedback: Concerns about bike lane placement near diagonal parking, reduced lane width, parking loss, pedestrian crossings at Hwy 116 & Mirabel.

Schedule:

March 2026: Caltrans public meeting on CAPM project.

Spring 2026: Complete engineering design and encroachment permit.

Fall 2026–Fall 2027: Construction phase.
